The tiger is the largest cat of its species, even bigger than the lion. Tigers and cats are the second fastest in running, after the cheetah. In overall carnivores, tigers are the largest carnivore and the third largest carnivore after polar bears and brown bears.

Tigers usually hunt for rather large prey such as sambar deer, deer, pigs, or deer. However, tigers will hunt small animals such as porcupines in the absence of larger prey.
