Main function

◆ Rain cloud radar

The movement of rain clouds is displayed based on the radar rainfall (XRAIN) provided by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism. You can check the precipitation intensity distribution every 5 minutes, how much it rained in the past hour.

The radar display range is inside the black border on the map (134.0 degrees to 144.0 degrees east longitude, 30.6 degrees to 37.2 degrees north latitude). In the future, we will gradually expand the area.

◆ Precipitation forecast

"Login is required to view." Predicted rainfall is displayed for any point specified in advance for each contractor. Below are two types of predicted rainfall. Both are original forecasts of the Institute of Meteorological Engineering.

(wavelet prediction)

　Based on the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism's XRAIN performance, it predicts up to 60 minutes ahead with a 250m mesh with 10 minute updates.

(hybrid prediction)

Combining the kinematic method (prediction of current radar rainfall movement) and the physical method (computer calculation of physical formulas), we forecast up to 6 hours ahead with 10 minute updates using a 1km mesh.
