INSTRUCTIONS

To get four consecutive rows, take turns dropping tokens in the columns. Click on a column to drop a chip or click and drag the chip into that column. To win, connect 4 pieces vertically, horizontally, or diagonally. You can either play against the computer or a friend, or you can challenge online players.

4 TIPS AND TRICKS IN A ROW

Block the winning spaces. Take your turn and look around the board. Try to find groups of three discs in one direction. Drop one of your pieces to clear the fourth space. If you are unable to block the space immediately, or if your winning space is on row 2, be sure not to drop your piece below the winning spot.

The center should be checked. A diagonal or horizontal chain of four pieces must include a piece from its center column. The player in control of the center column has more ways to connect four pieces. It is a good idea put as many pieces in the middle as possible at the start of the game, and then build your lines around them.

Pay attention to your opponent. You will begin to see patterns in your opponent's moves and be able predict their strategy after a few rounds. To determine the best move, pay attention to their movements each turn. If your opponent is putting up a row with twos, with one space between each, you can block one side with your color. This will stop them from setting up a winning line.

Make sure to plan ahead. Strategic games like 4 in a row are very rewarding. You will need to plan ahead to surprise your opponent, just like in chess. When you are planning, consider how your opponent will react to your next move. It's best to try and distract your opponent by making him block your next move.

Opt for number 7. A "7" arrangement is a winning combination. You should connect the diagonal and horizontal lines of three pieces with two empty spaces at each end of the horizontal line. This will make your opponents see the space at the bottom of the horizontal row. They will then be forced to block it, allowing you to finish the diagonal line.
