Bibione's natural heritage is beaches, dunes, pine groves, fishing hatcheries, uncontaminated territory and really clean sea. The location has always proved its love and respect for this "paradise’ renewing its numerous Italian and European acknowledgements and certifications year after year.

Since 1996, the Bibione coastline has had a Blue Flag, the most important international FEE acknowledgement (Foundation for Environmental Education), every year. Even if it usually only refers to the quality of swimming waters, the "flag’ involves managing the entire coastal area and refers to the excellence of services offered, cleanliness and safety. It also guarantees that right balance between tourist activities and complete respect for the environment.

But how can you defend and preserve such different, delicate eco-systems like the lagoon, sites of Community importance and pine groves found in this area and real natural treasures? For its conservation, but also for ongoing improvement of this heritage, Bibione was the first European tourist resort to obtain (in 2002) International EMAS registration - Eco Management and Audit Scheme.

This implied ISO 14001 certification, regular publication of an Environmental Declaration and creation of an Environmental Management System, also involving energy efficiency and control of emissions. Special care goes into managing waste for which new strategies are being implemented continuously to recover and recycle without forgetting sensitising tourists to behave virtuously.
