BTS (hangul: 방탄 소년단, revised romanization: Bangtan Sonyeondan)? is a South Korean boy band formed by Big Hit Entertainment in 2013. It is composed of seven members: Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V and Jungkook. The group debuted on June 13, 2013 with the song "No More Dream", included in its first single 2 Cool 4 Skool, while its premiere in Japan occurred on June 4, 2014 with the Japanese version of the same theme . The name of its official club of fanes is A.R.M.Y, acronym of «Adorable Representative MC for Youth».

The name of the group, BTS, is an abbreviation of the Korean expression Bangtan Sonyeondan (Hangul: 방탄 소년단, hanja: 防彈 少年 團?), Which literally means «Bulletproof Boy Scouts». According to member J-Hope, this refers to the group's desire to "put aside stereotypes, criticisms, and expectations directed like bullets towards young people." In Japan they are known as Bōdan Shōnendan (防 弾 少年 団?), Which It has a similar translation. On July 27, 2017 it was announced that BTS would also mean "Beyond The Scene" as part of its new brand identity.
