DPG Buddha Museum Gorakhpur

Through this App Visitors to the Museum can receive an audio visual experience of our collection of rare and significant sculptures, ancient objects and classical paintings, directly on their mobile phones.

You can learn about the selected artefact, its highlights and historical significance on your own. Moreover, there is no bandwidth or data consumption, as the solution has been powered via a local area wifi called NETLESS. Walk around, press on the selected artefact (marked on the app in colour) and enjoy. Through the use of close-up photography, animation and special effects we have brought to life selected historical objects to create an engaging and immersive experience for our visitors.

The app features a graphic plan of the Museum with views of each Gallery. Our selected set of significant sculptures, ancient objects and rare paintings have been marked within each Gallery View, where with a single tap you are presented an educative 3-minute video of this highlighted artefact.

The Government Museum in Gorakhpur is one of the most prominent museums in the state of Uttar Pradesh. The museum has a rich collection of artefacts including archaeological antiquities, paintings, sculptures mostly from Buddhism, Jainism and Hinduism cultures. A few significant items on display here include River Goddess Ganga, Surya on Chariot, Head art of Buddha and Jain Tirthankar Parsvanatha, among others.

While the Voice over is in Hindi for local visitors to the Museum, each video is accompanied with English Sub-titles. We will soon be releasing a full English Version along with other foreign languages.

The App is FREE for all visitors to the Museum.

How the App works

This is an Android app and it works only within the premises of this Museum. Users don’t need a 2G or a 3G connection, and the App works over the NETLESS WI-FI environment that has been especially created for the App in the Museum. Just switch your Wi-Fi to NETLESS and you are all set.

Just as soon as users download the App. they can view, play and listen to the videos with no bandwidth usage and no Internet connection. It is compatible with almost all Android based smart phones.
