Denis Shapovalov (born April 15, 1999 in Tel Aviv) is a Canadian tennis player who began his professional career in 2016 playing left-handed, and is currently ranked No. 10 (July 19, 2021) in the ATP rankings, which is the highest for him. His highest ranking in doubles was 459th in 2016. He is currently the tenth youngest player to be ranked among the top 100 players.

Shapovalov rose to the world stage when he reached the semi-finals of the Masters at the 2017 Canadian Open at the age of 18, defeating Grand Slam champion Juan Martin del Potro and Rafael Nadal during his career in the tournament. [5] He has since reached the final of the 2019 Rolex Paris and three other semi-finals at the Masters including the 2018 Madrid Open. (when the Canadian became the country's top seed on May 21, 2018 as part of his continuous climb up the ATP rank),[6] the 2019 Miami Open, and the 2020 Italian Open. He also reached the semi-finals at Wimbledon 2021.

Although he is not known for being a doubles player, in May 2019 he partnered with Fernando Verdasco to reach the round of 16 at the Italian Open 2019. He then partnered with Rohan Bubana to reach the finals in the 2019 Mercedes Cup in June 2019, placing him in the top In the doubles number 130, he surpassed Adele Schmaesden as the highest rated Canadian player in doubles. His appearance at the last Paris Masters Tournament in 2019, again with Boubana, took him into the top 50 seeded doubles, making him the highest ranked doubles player under the age of 25 [7].

In the youth category, Shapovalov reached the world number two in addition to the Wimbledon youth singles title in 2016, and won the US Open in the doubles category with fellow Canadian Felix Auger Eliasmi in 2015
