Systematic method for multiplying two numbers

The Russian Peasant Method, is a systematic method for multiplying two numbers that does not require the multiplication table, only the ability to multiply and divide by 2, and to add. It uses a halving and doubling method to multiply two numbers. When halving, disregard any remainder; just put the quotient in the halving column; when the number in the halving column is 1, cross out all rows that have an even number in the halving column. The answer is found by adding up the remaining numbers in the doubling column. It is also intended to be a teaching tool.
