3D Zonnestelsel

Experience the wonders of the universe up close!

'3D Solar System' is a space exploration simulator that renders the solar system in high-quality 3D using real-time data from NASA and JPL. Watch the Sun, the eight planets, their moons and the great space telescopes move exactly as they are moving right now.

Key features

Real-time orbit simulation

Planetary orbits are computed from NASA JPL Horizons data, so what you see is where they really are.

Detailed 3D planet models

Explore the solar system through high-quality models built for each planet. The Moon's position is reproduced by full astronomical calculation, accurate to the arcsecond.

The night sky from where you stand

See the sky exactly as it looks above you right now - which direction each planet and constellation sits in, and how high. Ready to use for real stargazing.

Constellations and your birth sky

Find all 88 constellations in the night sky, and look up the sky on the day you were born.

Eclipses and sky event calendar

Upcoming solar and lunar eclipses, planetary conjunctions and meteor shower peaks, listed by date. Major showers such as the Quadrantids, Perseids and Geminids are recreated from their true radiants.

Space telescope and satellite tracking

See where the International Space Station (ISS) is flying over the Earth this very moment, and follow Hubble, James Webb and the newly launched Roman Space Telescope. The Earth-Sun Lagrange points (L1 and L2) are marked as well.

Astronomy Picture of the Day (NASA APOD)

Enjoy a new NASA image every day, with 12 years of archives you can browse by date.

Live aurora forecast

Current auroral activity based on NOAA SWPC data.

Solar wind and geomagnetic storm monitor

Real-time solar wind speed and density, Kp index and CME alerts.

Near-Earth Object (NEO) tracker

Asteroids approaching Earth, based on NASA data.

Time travel

Jump to any date in the past or future and see the solar system and the night sky as they were, or will be.

True scale mode

Lay out the planets and their orbits at real proportions and see for yourself how vast the solar system is.

Black hole simulation

Experience gravitational lensing - light itself bending - in real-time rendering.

Simple controls

Pinch to zoom, drag to rotate. Full View hides every menu so nothing stands between you and space.
