The Cure Greatest Hits
The Cure was formed in Sussex around 1976 by Robert Smith (vocals / guitar), Michael Dempsey (bass), and Laurence 'Lol' Tolhurst (drums). The Cure, originally called Easy Cure, just released an album in 1979 under the title THREE IMAGINARY BOYS, which gets a thumbs up by many British music critics.
The Cure that mixed Punk Rock, Gothic, and New Wave began to include a keyboard sound on their second album entitled SEVENTEEN SECONDS. The keyboardist position is filled by Mathieu Hartley. This decision adds to the rich music of The Cure which began to be widely praised by the British music press.
Although it has released 7 albums, but the popularity of The Cure in America just jumped after the album DISINTEGRATION released in 1989. This album made it into the top 12 U.S Charts and won the platinum album.
The Cure itself tends to be dreary with lyrical nuances of despair. Robert Smith's similarly choked vocal style with his distinctive make-up eventually became the trade mark of The Cure until now.
After changing the formation, The Cure was last recorded with the composition of Robert Smith, Porl Thompson, Simon Gallup, and Jason Cooper and plans to release their 13th album in 2008.
