Handmade or handicraft, sometimes more precisely expressed as artisanal handicraft or handmade, is any of a wide variety of types of work where useful and decorative objects are made completely by hand or by using only simple tools. It is a traditional sector of craft that applies to a wide range of creative and designed products related to making things with one's hands and skills, and usually home-based, including work with textiles, moldable and rigid materials, paper, plant fibers, etc. to make gifts, jewelry, housewares, etc.

Making and selling handmade products is a good opportunity for people to develop their skills and to have a source of income mainly for those who are jobless, have low or no formal education, or those who do not have opportunities to work outside their homes due to family or other engagements. It is also one of the best means to preserve traditional skills and products, let alone their exquisiteness and cultural values. Handmade products are usually environment friendly, as they do not require a factory or large production facility, and they, generally speaking, do not have any negative impact on nature.

Having an online bazaar for handcrafted products will be very beneficial for everyone, mainly for unemployed youth and women, especially during this difficult time that people live in hard economic conditions as the public service staff does not regularly receive their salaries, and chances of job opportunities with the private sectors or elsewhere are very limited due to the pandemic outbreak and economic challenges. That is why, the project, when conducted, will be one of the best ways for people to sell their products and remain safe and protected in their homes. The project could also contribute to decreasing unemployment by promoting home-based jobs and boosting the local economy.
