The events of the novel begin with the appearance of Georgette in Yahya's life, a girl who wears a headscarf but does not show her face. Georgette falls in love with Yehia, but before revealing her face to him, she stipulates that he reveal his family's secrets to him.

Yehia agrees to Georgette's request, and starts searching for his family's secrets. Yehia discovers that his family has many secrets and crimes, including a murder
