Bangladesh consists of 6 divisions and 64 districts. After the liberation war in 1971, the number of districts was increased to 64. But when Pakistan was established in 1947, the number of districts in East Pakistan and present day Bangladesh was 16. Government officials are employed in each district and they perform various government functions. The Deputy Commissioner or Deputy Commissioner is the chief government representative of the district. Usually each district has some uniqueness. And they have the secrets of their respective district names, food (recipes) and places of interest (religious)
