Istria Gourmet Guide

The Gourmet & Wine Lovers application introduces the Istrian gourmet offer to its users in a simple way.

It is intended for all enogastronomic fans: journalists, opinion makers, enogastronomic experts, future guests.

The application will be used as a platform for introducing attractive content including

- best restaurants and taverns in the region,

- superb wine and olive oil producers,

- olive tree growers and wine bars,

- truffle hunters,

- cheese as well as prosciutto

- and honey producers,

- best regional hotels and other interesting events.

As we have divided Istria in six smaller areas (clusters), one or several itineraries have been developed for each cluster connecting its most important Gourmet & Wine venues.

Paths have been named depending on the microarea and its gourmet specificity such as the Itinerary of the Novigrad Oyster or Four Soils for Four Experiences, the Momjan Musketeers' Muscat, Veli Jože and Teran, Rovinj Blue, Divine Tastes of South Istria and alike.

The purpose behind the idea was to develop a tool for promoting Istria and its microdestinations. It will also be used as a tool for developing special interest packages (TO, agencies) to be used as a finished product. The application also aims at igniting the passion of businesses included within as well as of those close to be included. It will also be interesting for restaurants as it includes a separate chapter on wine lists i.e. wines produced by wine producers included in the application. Thus, a certain wine, a wine producer or a wine cellar will be more easily presented to a guest visiting a hospitality establishment.

The same applies to olive oils, including not only an olive oil producer profile but also a separate paragraph containing a detailed 'identity card' of olive oil presented in the world extra virgin olive oil guide Flos Olei. It is interesting to mention that the application offers a direct link to the Istria Tourist Board web site for automatic access to the gastronomic events calendar which will facilitate users ability to be informed on daily regional and gourmet events at any time.
