King, the creator of the hit puzzle game Candy Crush Saga, is partnering with Flexion Mobile, a game-marketing agency, to release their game on alternative app stores. Fans of Candy Crush Saga will now have access to the game on the Huawei App Gallery, Samsung Galaxy Store, Xiaomi GetApps, and ONE store, in addition to the conventional Apple Stores and Google Play.
App stores witness decentralization as more games plan to leverage alternative app stores
Formerly, the app store marketplace was ruled by two giants, Apple Store and Google Play. However, recent structural developments have altered this landscape. Apple has been compelled by a new EU law to permit side-loading and alternative App Stores, a regulation that Japan has adopted as well. Consequently, other platforms and marketplaces, like Aptoide, have emerged, fostering healthy competition within the industry.
Known for aiding developers in launching their games on alternative platforms, Flexion Mobile has history of collaborations with multiple developers to launch games like Hill Climb Racing 2, Monopoly Go!, and King of Avalon, among others. With Candy Crush Saga now on their portfolio, it is expected that Flexion’s marketing services will ensure successful adjustment of the game to these alternate app stores.
