Indonesia Flag

The flag of Indonesia is the national flag and the national flag of the Republic of Indonesia. It consists of two horizontal stripes red and white of the same size. The red and white is an ancient Javanese standard, documented in a so-called entry "of Kudadu1" from East Java and dated 1294, which recounts the rebellion in 1292 of Jayakatwang prince Kediri against his suzerain, the Kertanegara king Singasari, the end of this kingdom and the founding of the Majapahit. The inscription mentions the use of standards "red and white". It is this standard that has been selected by Indonesian nationalists like flag of the new nation in 1949.

It is also similar to the flag of Poland, but with inverted colors, as well as that of the Canton of Solothurn (Switzerland), with the difference that it is square.
