  Based on user feedback, instead of introducing a new App with a slightly different name and declaring EOL for Release 1 App, we came up with an elegant solution. This update replaces Release 1 App that contained the TTS Engine and voice database with Release 2 voice only App. When the App is opened, it directs the user to Play Store for install Release 2 TTS Engine unless it is already installed on the device.

  We are delighted to announce release of Version 2 of Hear2Read App family. We have had over 40,000 downloads of Hear2Read Version 1 Apps for six Indic languages including over 1,250 for Punjabi. Version 2 Hear2Read Apps incorporate improvements based on the feedback received from several hundred users.

  The App Home screen "copy & paste" has been increased to 1,000 characters to allow listening to longer text messages (e.g. WhatsApp message) or short e-mails. To support larger text messages, it now has buttons to move to next or previous sentence or start from beginning. This update supports Android 6 and 7 more completely. It fixes bugs that caused the TTS Engine to stop sometimes and then restart automatically.

  This Punjabi Hear2Read update has a new streamlined User Interface. The Demo screen is now the home screen for the App. Users can now send feedback from the App using their preferred e-mail App. Based on the Android Version distribution of the devices on which various Hear2Read Apps have been installed, the min Android version is now 4.4. Please send detailed feedback (especially after a crash), as to how the App was being used and the text being read when it crashed.
