SAJAG Save Birds

SAJAG - Shree Ahmedabad Jain Active Group, founded in the year 2008 by the inspiration and divine blessings of Pu. Aacharya Shree Muktivallabh Suri Maharaja, Pu. Aacharya Shree Udayvallabh Suri Maharaja, and Pu. Aacharya Shree Hridayvallabh Suri Maharaja.

SAJAG has started its endeavor in 2009 and there is no turning back. Apart from giving Milk to Dog, Roti to Cows, Pot Distribution during summer other to name few. Bird Camp has been the key activity conducted by SAJAG. At its core lies the immense love and care – not restricted for any particular person or group, but for ALL living beings beyond space and time..

Bird Camp aims to protect the innocent birds who are falling prey to the glass coated thin threads which we (the humans with all humanity) use to entertain ourselves on the great festival of Uttarayan. We feel great joy to cut someone’s kite by our strong thread but don’t care to know that the same thread also cuts some innocent’s wings, cuts some innocent’s life.

WHY TO JOIN? More than 3000 birds gets injured every year during uttarayan (Kite Festival) and this number is just for one city – Ahmedabad. We can imagine what would be the actual condition given that this festival is profoundly celebrated in various regions of India as well as abroad!

The aim of SAJAG is not confided to the preservation of birds and their species, but to follow the great motto of Jainism,“LIVE AND MAKE LIVE” which goes one step beyond the famous saying ‘Live and let live’..

When Bird Camp started in 2009 for 4 days during Uttarayan, it didn’t remained confided to those 4 days only, but continued round the year. So that ANYWHERE in Ahmedabad, 24 hours a day, if you find a bird injured (which may not be due to threads used in Uttarayan) then just call the Helpline number of SAJAG and volunteers will reach the spot in irrespective of the location and save the bird by safely admitting them to one of the designated location such as Jivdaya Charitable Trust, Wildlife Care Center etc. where veterinary doctors will do the needful. And the same thing has continued for consecutive 9 years. And this time, SAJAG is entering its Eleventh Bird Camp after 2009, 10, 11,12,13,14,15,16,17,18
