The UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) Humanitarian Affairs Segment (HAS) provides a unique opportunity for Member States to address the current humanitarian challenges and support operational and normative progress on the humanitarian policy agenda. Since 1998, the HAS has become an essential platform for discussing the activities and issues related to strengthening the coordination of the humanitarian assistance of the United Nations. This forum enables Member States to engage in essential discussions with the UN and non-UN humanitarian and development community, as well as other actors of the humanitarian response, such as the private sector, the diaspora and regional entities.
