"Kshama Shodasi" was composed by Sri Vedavyasa Battar, the elder son of Sri Koorathazvan. "Kshama" means "patience", "shodasi" means 16. Thus this sloka speaks about the patience in 16 slokas. Whose patience? The patience of Sri Ranganatha, the presiding deity of Srirangam.
