Snapmute

Do you like watching TV but hate watching commercials? Snapmute may be just what you're looking for. We're building it to be good at doing just one thing - muting your TV without you having to hunt for your remote. With Snapmute, you can be anywhere in the room and mute your TV with a snap of your fingers or a clap of your hands.

If you've ever seen an ad for "The Clapper" on TV, you have a good idea of how Snapmute works. You can set it to mute your TV after one, two, or three snaps or claps. Then to unmute, you just snap or clap again.

Right now, Snapmute works with your Samsung Smart TV™. We have plans to port it to LG and other smart TVs in the future. We're currently Beta testing the software, so we'd love it if you could take a moment after trying it out and tell us what you think. We want your feedback so we can make it better.

Oh, and don't worry - we're not eavesdropping. There's been a lot of talk lately about various Smart TV technologies listening in on your conversations. Our software doesn't do that. In fact, we don't grab any identifying information about you. Snapmute does use your phone's microphone, but all it does is listen for a snap or a clap. It does all of its audio processing right in your phone, meaning no sound files from your living room are sent to a server. Because we're doing something really simple, that means we don't have to snoop.
