Because determining watermelon ripeness is extremely hard, Watermelon Scanner calculates it for you!!!

This application examines whether a watermelon is ripe, by simply pressing a button. It will scan the watermelon for an ideal color using pattern recognition. This application uses the camera, flashlight and other features to determine the ripeness. To get the best results make sure the camera is zoomed completely into the most yellow part of the watermelon. In addition, it will check for uniformity of the watermelon and will calculate the level of ripeness. The percentage will be displayed.

The application uses a flashlight to identify more colors that are in the yellow spectrum, that are visible to the naked eye, but not to the computer.

How to Use:

Point the camera to the most yellow part of the watermelon. Wait until the screen is fully focused. Once ready, press the button (is a clip art of a watermelon).

*Note: Everything above 75 percent should be a good watermelon.

In this watermelon application, the flashlight, camera, internet, location and external storage are being used. The flashlight is to ensure a better picture for analysis. The camera is to "take a picture" of the watermelon. Vibration is being used to notify the user that they have successfully taken the ripeness of a watermelon. The internet, location and external storage were added because in the initial view of the application, I was going to locate where the best watermelons are being found. However, after careful consideration I deleted that feature. An update will be given where the external storage, internet and location are not required in order to download this application.
