About this story:

The main character of this book looks more like a teenager than a little kid. That's because she is! She is my daughter and she is 14 years old.

In the pictures, she is often holding someone's hand. That's because she doesn't balance very well and is afraid of falling down.

Also, she doesn't talk. When people ask her questions, she has to find other ways to answer. She might point at something or shake her head or pull your hand in the direction she wants to go. If you show her pictures, she might choose one that matches her thoughts. Sometimes it's hard to know what she means.

If no one can understand her, my daughter might stop answering questions because it doesn't seem to make any difference. She might not want to try something new because she can't tell us how she likes it or if there is a problem.

I made this book to practice talking with my daughter about some things I know she likes to do: ride buses, trains, roller-coasters, and carousels. I thought she might try hard to tell me how she wants the story to go, and not be afraid of mistakes because it's just a story and she can try again right away.

This story focuses on "Yes or No" types of questions, as the first step. Future stories will have a variety of choices.
