He once secluded himself for worship (Khalwat) for 14 years, after which he focused on educating his students. He was killed on the 16th of Rabiul Awal in 870 Hijriah in Sus City due to being poisoned. His death was right at the time of performing the prostration of the Fajr prayer. After 77 years from his death, the body of Sheikh Muhammad bin Sulaiman al-Jazuli was moved to Marrakech City. According to the testimony, his body was still intact as it was when he was initially buried, not changing at all (Shaykh Abdul Majid as-Syarnubi, Syarah Dalail al-Khairat, Cet. Maktabah Al-Adab, pp. 2-3).
