Martial is an art that defends itself from the threat of human or other attacks. Broadly speaking, martial arts means any method used by humans in defending itself from enemy attacks. Martial is required in the face of unwanted conditions, such as logging, robbery etc.

The origin of martial arts is actually from the first time there are humans, because from the beginning human beings have enemies of other humans and wild animals. Wars also occur from ancient times to the present day.

But according to legend, the history of all known martial arts today comes from India. His name is Bodhidharma or Daruma Taishi or Tatmo Chouwsu who lived in the 6th century AD. To spread Buddhism to China, Bodhidharma traveled dangerously through the wilderness of the virgin on foot alone. The Bodhidharma journey is very difficult, the virgin wilderness is known to be full of 1001 distress including the many beasts. But because of the high martial arts he possessed, Bodhidharma made it to China.

There is historical evidence to show that around 520 AD, an Indian priest named Daruma (another name of Bodhidharma) was born in kanchipuran and has traveled to Canton city in China. There Daruma met the emperor of the Liang dynasty named Wu Ti. Then Daruma continued the journey of Wei's kingdom to erect the temple where his teachings developed. If this legend is true, the temple Daruma founded is a shaolin shrine.
