Models Fashion Designs Sketches

In the fashion world, new designs are presented in the form of hand-drawn sketches before they’re actually cut and sewn. First you draw a croquis, the model-shaped figure that serves as the base of the sketch. The point is not to draw a realistic-looking figure, but a blank canvas of sorts on which to display illustrations of dresses, skirts, blouses, accessories and the rest of your creations.

Each time I've shared a collection here we have received tons of requests for a how-to post about fashion sketching. I am self-taught (and still learning!), but I thought it would be fun to share a little bit about my process.

Fashion drawing is the drawing of clothes on a figure. The figures and style of drawing differ so dramatically between designers so there is no right or wrong way to draw. Some people put lots of detail into their art, whilst others do loose sketches and leave the heads blank. It's up to you!

I simply love fashion and many things surrounding it, specially fashion sketches and illustrations!I think that fashion illustrations are extremely beautiful, elegant, delicate... they transmit a good vibe. I'm not sure why they enchant me this much, but I just can't get tired of fashion sketches.

In order to bring these nascent ideas to life, many fashion designers first sketch out their visions, either on paper or digitally. Sketches and illustrations allow them to play around with textures, patterns, colors, and fabrics.

Investing a good stencil set is required. The easiest technique to make a fashion sketch is by using sketchy-esque penciling. There are several steps you can take to sketch like a professional designer’s sketches.

Another alternative is you can just keep a folder for your sketches. You can learn from fashion designer sketches on how each sketch is made and how long it takes to make one fashion design. Having something to help you keeping track of your fashion designs will also help you to provide a portfolio when you want to level up your career as a future professional fashion designer.
