Grand Theft Auto 6 is finally close enough that players are watching storefronts in real time. As mid May is widely expected to mark the start of pre-orders for Rockstar’s next open-world epic. While Rockstar has not formally announced that pre-orders are live, a combination of retail leaks and store back-end changes has led many fans and industry watchers to treat today as the key date.
PS5 And Xbox Storefronts Show Signs Of Preparation
On the console side, there are strong indicators that platform holders are preparing for a pre-order switch to be flipped. On PlayStation, searching for GTA 6 via Google now surfaces a PlayStation Store preview mentioning “Free delivery,” a detail that fans say was not visible before, suggesting the listing is being actively updated behind the scenes. Players have also noticed new but currently empty filters on the GTA 6 listing, such as “Editions,” “Filter by,” and “Sort by,” implying that multiple SKUs are ready to be attached once pre-orders open.
Over on Xbox, the GTA 6 product page has reportedly disappeared and reappeared several times in recent hours, another classic sign that a listing is being reconfigured, possibly to add pre-order options and edition details.
Multiple Editions And Collector’s Version Expected
Leaks and reporting suggest Rockstar will launch GTA 6 with a broad range of editions rather than a single standard SKU. One leaker has claimed there will be six versions in total: three digital and three physical editions, including a premium collector’s edition and two PlayStation 5 console bundles themed around GTA 6. Although exact pricing is still unannounced, industry analysts expect the standard edition to at least match or slightly exceed current big-budget game pricing, with higher tiers offering extra in-game content or physical collectibles.
If these details prove accurate, players may be choosing not only between digital and physical but also between base, deluxe, and collector-style bundles, as well as potential hardware packs for those upgrading to a PS5 at the same time.
Trailers, Release Date, And Whether To Rush A Pre-Order
The heightened attention around May 18 is not just about securing a copy; fans also expect that pre-orders will be paired with fresh footage, likely a third GTA 6 trailer revealing new story and gameplay details. Take-Two’s CEO has reiterated that GTA 6 is still scheduled to release on November 19, 2026, leaving about six months between pre-orders opening and launch day.
Despite the hype, there is currently no practical advantage to locking in a pre-order the instant it goes live, beyond peace of mind and possible retailer-specific perks. Digital storefronts may struggle under the initial rush, but players are being reminded that there will be plenty of time to reserve a copy before November and that availability is not expected to be limited in the way hardware launches often are.
