The Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway is the longest and oldest narrow gauge railway in the Lake District National Park, known affectionately by locals as the La’al Ratty.

it is a popular heritage visitor attraction offering visitors a unique experience to discover one of Wainwright’s favourite journeys, traversing seven miles from the coast, through iconic woodland, riverside and mountain scenery. The railway has four main steam locomotives, including the oldest working 15” gauge locomotive in the world, River Irt.
