A3 Game

It is an Android Game to be applied in conjunction with a Raspberry Pi and a Neopixel GameBoard. Prerequisite for the game is that both the Raspberry Pi and the Smartphone are locked on to the same WLAN router. The smartphone communicates over WLAN with the Raspberry Pi. Both the Smartphone and the Raspberry Pi obtain its IP addresses from the router. The IP address of the Raspberry Pi needs to be available and has to be inserted into the App. The port number of the Raspberry Pi should also be made available to the App and needs to be chosen (i.e. 5005). With this done the Smartphone can synchronize with the Raspberry Pi and supply the Raspberry Pi with commands. In this case the Raspberry Pi should be connected to a string of 82 x WS2812B Neopixels, which are arranged in a Neopixel Playboard. The Neopixel Playboard is supplied by a 5V 5A Power Supply and connected to GND and a GPIO of choice.

The A3 Game App fulfills two applications. With Game selected a game is featured while with Mode selected a LED lightshow is visualized. The App is free for download and of use.

The game is about 3 or 4 drivers who are competing while driving along a highway, in one of 30 countries around the world, to achieve the highest km. The drivers are identified by name and by a color red, green, blue or magenta. This color code is transferred to the Neopixel GameBoard. The game offers 3 different layouts: Init, Game and Finish.

The Init initializes the game. During the game each driver initiates a dice which generates a random number to be displayed on the GameBoard. Different features are implemented. The dice value can be added or subtracted, a breakdown can occur or one can hit a trap. The finish layout evaluates all the drivers and selects a winner.

With Mode selected several different lightshows are shown. 2 layouts control the lightshows: Init and Mode. These lightshows can be selected and its duration can be adjusted.
