Alegría – The Festival of Joy The Pillai Group of Institutions’ exciting intercollegiate event

The Festival of Joy has become one of the most spectacular festivals of its kind in India. This celebration takes

place every February as an audience of more than 50,000 people gather to behold incredibly talented young

performers and star celebrities appear on stage. Thanks to the dedication of the students and faculty involved

Alegría - The Festival of Joy continues to flourish every year! The festival has now witnessed appearances from

some of the biggest names in Indian entertainment. Actors such as Ranbir Kapoor, Deepika Padukone, Sonam

Kapoor, Elli Avram, Zayed Khan, Jackky Bhagnani, Ran Vijay Singh, Pallavi Sharda and Sarah Jane Dias have

showcased their movies to the wonderful masses that visit the fesitval. Award winning Indian sporting icons

Bhaichung Bhutia, Sunil Chhetri , Ashwini Ponnappa and Syed Kirmani have also visited to cheer on the

athletes that take part in the various sporting events held during Alegría. One of the highlights of the festival

are the incredible musical performances from artists such as Yo Yo Honey Singh, Bollywood Superstar Farhan

Akhtar, Bass Raja Nucleya, DJ Aqeel, Nikhil Chinapa and DJ Suketu. Also not to be missed are the visiting

international performers such as the award-winning Romanian pop band Akcent, tomorrowland’s resident

DJ Yves V, DJs SultanShepard and Mike Candys who set the main stage on fire with their wonderful musical

sets.The true heart of Alegría - The Festival of Joy is theexceptionally talented students who participate,

organise and oversee more than a hundred different events that take place over the course of the festival

with great professionalism and care. The festival was created with the hope of showcasing the power of the

youth and has so far succeeded in doing so.
