Grocerating

Grocerating turns "what should we eat this week?" into a shopping list in three steps, then helps you keep track of what everything costs.

PLAN A GROCERY RUN IN THREE STEPS

1. Pick meals. Choose them yourself, or let "Surprise me" pick at random. You can also say how many meals you want from each category (say, two chicken and one pasta) and spin to fill the plan.

2. Check your staples. Answer "have" or "need" for your everyday staples and for every ingredient in the meals you picked.

3. Shop from the list. Grocerating builds the list for you. Change quantities, remove lines or add extra items before you head out.

• See each item's last price and its lowest, highest and latest unit price.

SHARE WITH YOUR HOUSEHOLD

Connect Google Drive and Grocerating keeps your data in one file in your own Drive, grocerating.json, and syncs it automatically. Share that file with the people you shop with so everyone plans and shops from the same meals, items and prices. Each person can be given edit or view-only access.

PRIVATE BY DESIGN

• Works without an account. Your data stays on your phone until you choose to connect Google Drive.

• Grocerating asks for the narrowest Drive permission Google offers. It can see only its own data file, never the rest of your Drive.

• There is no Grocerating server. None of your grocery data is ever sent to us. The app only counts which screens are used and reports crashes.

• Free, with no ads and nothing to buy.

• Export a JSON backup at any time, or import one.

Works on phones and tablets, and uses the same data file as the Grocerating web app.
