List of Generic Drugs

Generic drugs are drugs that have expired patents, so that it can be produced by all the pharmaceutical companies without paying royalties. There are two types of generic drugs, which is a trademarked generic drugs and generic drugs are marketed under the brand bearing the active substance.

In the branded generic drugs, active substance was given name (brand). The active substance amoxicillin for example, by manufacturer "A" are branded "inemicillin", while the mill "B" gave the name "gatoticilin" and so on, as desired drug factory. Of various brands of the same materials: amoxicillin.

Based on data from the National use of drugs in Indonesia is still relatively low, but even if the price is much cheaper, quality and usefulness as a drug called trade (branded). According to data from the Ministry of Health (2010), prescribing by doctors in public hospitals owned by the government currently only 66 percent, while in private hospitals and pharmacies is only 49 percent. The availability of essential generic medicines at health care facilities also just 69.7 percent of the target of 95 per cent, in the last five years from 2005 to 2010, the drug market down from Rp2.525 trillion or 10 percent of the national market, be Rp2.372 trillion or 7.2 percent of the national market. Meanwhile, the national drug market increased from Rp23,59 trillion in 2005 to Rp32,93 trillion in 2009. This was partly influenced by the level of drug use in health care.

According Handayani (2007), the public perception, the demand and needs of the community of generic drugs in the hospital is not a factor of the low use of drugs, but rather caused by poor public knowledge about the drug itself.

Generic drugs are drugs that naming is based on the content of certain active substances in a drug and does not use a trademark. These drugs are circulating in pharmacies and widely recommended by doctors to their patients. When doctors give drugs to patients, they rarely explain the function of each drug. As a result, sometimes we're curious about the function of the drugs given by the doctor. On this occasion I will share a partial list of drug names and their benefits to eliminate the curiosity that appears.
