  • Unsaved edits are safer: saving before you leave a file or open another now finishes before the switch, and Background autosave keeps what you type while it writes.
  • A run's output no longer lands in another notebook when you switch files mid-run.
  • Renaming a file keeps its variables, and a script renamed mid-run keeps its output.
  • Remote servers: connecting no longer hangs, a cell the server aborted says so, and connecting no longer disturbs a running cell.

  • A cell is checked against the whole notebook, so names from earlier cells are not flagged.
  • Tap an underline to see what it found. Turn it off in Settings → Code → Python diagnostics.

  • Faster, starts after one letter, and knows names from earlier cells before they run.
