  • Code shows <=, >=, != and -> as typed, not as joined symbols.
  • Stop buttons are easier to read in light and dark mode.
  • The infinite-loop warning's buttons match the other confirmations.

What's new in the version 1.6.4

  Updated on Oct 16, 2026

  • Switching or closing a file mid-run or mid-typing no longer writes into another file; a crashed editor loses at most about a second of typing.
  • Deleting a cell with outputs asks first; a closed file's run can be stopped from Kernel busy.
  • A new file no longer inherits a deleted file's variables.
  • Remote: editing a server after a dropped connection keeps the running cell.
  • Very long scripts and cells open in full instead of crashing. Clearer buttons and badges.

What's new in the version 1.6.3

  Updated on Oct 10, 2026

  • Unsaved edits are safer: saving before you leave a file or open another now finishes before the switch, and Background autosave keeps what you type while it writes.
  • A run's output no longer lands in another notebook when you switch files mid-run.
  • Renaming a file keeps its variables, and a script renamed mid-run keeps its output.
  • Remote servers: connecting no longer hangs, a cell the server aborted says so, and connecting no longer disturbs a running cell.

What's new in the version 1.6.2

  Updated on Sep 28, 2026

  • Fixed a rare problem that could stop Callisto from starting.
  • Notebooks from Jupyter or Colab no longer lose data Callisto doesn't use when you save them.
  • The app no longer freezes when you tap Stop.
  • Restart kernel now picks up changes to helper files in data/.
  • Renaming a notebook or script keeps what you type afterwards, and no longer overwrites a file with the same name.
  • Exported bundles include every subfolder of data/.

  Python diagnostics
  • Syntax errors, undefined names and unused imports are underlined as you type, in code cells and .py scripts.
  • A cell is checked against the whole notebook, so names from earlier cells are not flagged.
  • Tap an underline to see what it found. Turn it off in Settings → Code → Python diagnostics.

  Code completion
  • Faster, starts after one letter, and knows names from earlier cells before they run.
