LORD BACON

Who served as Attorney General and Lord Chancellor. His works are regarded as contributions to the scientific method, and his influence lasted well into the scientific revolution's latter stages. Bacon is often referred to as the "Father of Empiricism." He argued that scientific knowledge could be gained solely by inductive reasoning and attentive observation of natural processes. Above all, he maintained that science might be accomplished through the use of a sceptical and rigorous methodology, in which scientists strive to avoid deceiving themselves.

Although his most explicit ideas for such a method, the Baconian method, did not have a long-lasting influence, Bacon is considered one of the later fathers of the scientific method because of his basic idea of the significance and potential of a sceptical methodology. His skepticism-based method resulted in a new rhetorical and theoretical framework for science, the practical aspects of which are still debated in science and methodology discussions. Bacon is best known for his role in the Scientific Revolution, which began in the Middle Ages and promoted scientific experimentation as a way to praise God and fulfil scripture. He was a well-known statesman in Elizabethan England, having served as Lord Chancellor.
