Did you search for a component for Google Places queries getting result as java class? There is Socrates.
It is basically a wrapper, allowing a rest query to Google Places, and JSON results will be binded in Java object - it's enough just one code row.
And it is a framework, so anyone can extends it against new Places features.
This demo app searchs for museums, but a different searching is easy, just modifying a parameter within configuration (it is hard-coded).
