IR Universal Remote no longer uses the device's external file storage to save remotes. In efforts to modernize IR Universal Remote the application will now store remotes inside the secured application data folder. Users will not have to give permission to file access to use the app :) Here is the bad part for existing users.. If you update to this version from a previous version then you will loose all of your existing saved remotes.
