Festember

We’re a group of passionate, enthusiastic students from NIT-Trichy, who, last year, in August 2012, realized that living without giving back to society is a pretty pointless way to live. That was one reason behind the inception of Festember Social Responsibility. The other was Lakshya. Lakshya was an activity for the NCC students of our institute; it celebrates patriotism and is all about loving our country and striving to become better citizens and human beings. The NCC heads thought, adding a patriotic feel to Festember would be something different, something that other colleges’ culturals don’t have; it would give us an edge. However, the Festember heads thought that solo dances, rock bands, and proshows don’t go too well with something like patriotism, so they shot the idea down. And from that rejection, Festember Social Responsibility came about. Rallies at the Marina Beach, massive tree plantation drives, scrap bowling, all that seemed to go with the fun feel of Festember as well as the sense of charity. We give our college’s cultural fest (Festember) a philanthropic edge, at the same time, we publicize it, in the hope that everyone else will follow our footsteps. And well, that’s that-our story.
