Jihad Literally means exerting all efforts and abilities, both in words and deeds

The definition of jihad according to the Shari'a expressed by Shaykhul Islam Ibn Taimiyah, "Jihad is exerting all efforts to achieve the desired truth." At another place

He said, The essence of Jihad is "Serious effort to achieve things that are pleasing to Allah such as Faith and Charity. At the same time to reject all that He hates such as Unbelief, Disobedience, and Disobedience."

There are many arguments that explain the the virtue of jihad in the way of Allah, one of which is the Word of God which means;

"Verily Allah has (promised to) buy from the believers their souls and wealth by (given) Paradise for them. They fight in the way of Allah. They kill and are killed. (It has become) a promise to Himself (so that) it becomes a true promise, (written) in the Torah, the Bible, and the Qur'an. Who is more true to his promise than Allah? So rejoice with the buying and selling that you have done! That's a big win." (Surat At-Taubah: 111)
