The Quran, also spelled as Qur'an, is the holy book of Islam. It is believed by Muslims to be the literal word of God (Allah) as revealed to the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) through the Angel Gabriel (Jibril) over a period of approximately 23 years, starting in 610 CE and ending in 632 CE, the year of Muhammad's death.

The Quran is written in classical Arabic and is divided into chapters called "Surahs," which vary in length. There are a total of 114 Surahs in the Quran. Each Surah addresses different aspects of faith, morality, guidance, and legal matters.

The Quran serves as the ultimate source of guidance for Muslims, providing them with moral, spiritual, and practical instructions to live a righteous life. It covers a wide range of topics, including theology, law, morality, spirituality, and stories of past prophets and communities.

Muslims believe that the Quran is miraculously preserved in its original form without any changes or alterations, making it a timeless and universal source of guidance for all humanity.

Recitation and memorization of the Quran hold immense significance in Islamic tradition, and those who commit the Quran to memory are known as "Hafiz" or "Hafiza."

It's important to note that the Quran is written in Arabic, and translations are considered interpretations, as they may not fully capture the richness of the original text. Therefore, for Muslims, reading or reciting the Quran in Arabic holds special spiritual value.
