The Miss Korea Pageant sponsored by the Hankook Ilbo is the greatest and biggest beauty festival in Korea.

In May 1957, the first pageant held at Myeongdong Municipal Theater in Seoul provided a place for festivals for the people in a time of spiritual deprivation and lack of sight after the war. In a situation where exchanges were minimal, the contestants went to an international beauty contest and show the opportunity to cultivate Korean nationality.
