Verifying the user is physically present and not a recording or a static image
Active liveness is an important component of customer authentication systems, which use unique physical characteristics, such as facial recognition or voice recognition to verify a user's identity. Without active liveness, it would be possible for fraudsters to use static images or recordings of a user's biometric data to gain access to sensitive information or systems. By requiring active participation from the user, these systems can more confidently authenticate the customer's identity and reduce the risk of fraud. The Active Liveness process is an edge-level implementation but still internet is required to access the SDK. Prompting the user to take a selfie only when all the quality image guidelines are followed ensures that the user present is live.
