ABC Phonics for kids, a new way for teaching children.

Learning in Group:

There are a lot of things which you as parents and teachers can do with these learning tools. You can facilitate learning by letting one kid display the cards while the others answer. The process can be repeated while the children take their turns in doing the roles. During the process, values can be inculcated in children. There are a lot of ways of using flashcards both with individuals and in groups.

1. An easy way is just recognition. Get a small group together and lay the cards face down. Next get the children to turn them over one at a time and read out the number. If they don’t know it, then suggest the others to help. This doesn’t only built the ability to read the numbers but also helps in team building.

a. Cover the flash card with the piece of card and slowly reveal it.

b. Children guess which one it is.

c. Once the card is shown, say out the number with a group using different intonations and silly voices to keep it fun. Vary the volume too, whisper and shout the number. Children will automatically copy your voice.

d. Alternatively, flip the card over very quickly so the children just get a quick glimpse.

e. Repeat until they have guessed the number.

3.

a. Point or raise to the flash cards.

b. Stick flash cards around the room.

c. Read out one of these and the kids point or race to it.

d. Kids can then give instructions to the group.

e. You can extend this by saying "hop to number 7" or even" if you have long hair, swim to number 4" etc.

f. You can also incorporate flash card into a game of Simon says. "Simon says, jump to number 5" etc.

4. Using accompanying DVDs can help provide structured sequencing of the flash cards, you can then sit with your child (rather than opposite) and speak and repeat each card as it is shown.

Learning should never be forced otherwise it will just become less fun and result oriented. Children must see learning as form of fun. They will learn to love count and calculate as much as they love playing, as they will see playing with numbers as a type of game. You must always remember that each child is different, and has own strengths and weaknesses when it comes to learning, so you have to adopt a style that is suitable to their specific style. There is no reason why a kid will not enjoy learning as kids are naturally curious about the world around them, unless the parent/teacher shows sign of stress or is in a stressful environment. Your role as parent and teacher is to make a learning session fun. Use smiles and applause for your child, speaking along with your kid with flashcards, and repeating the words and numbers and providing encouragement will provide a learning environment that is highly stimulating.
