Architecture Drawing

An architectural drawing or architecture drawing is a technical drawing of a building (or building project) that falls within the definition of architecture. Architecture drawings are made and used by architects and others for a number of purposes: to develop a design idea into a coherent proposal, to communicate ideas and concepts, to convince clients of the merits of a design, to enable a building contractor to construct it, as a record of the completed work, and to make a record of a building that already exists.

Architecture drawing are made according to a set of conventions, which include particular views (floor plan, section etc.), sheet sizes, units of measurement and scales, annotation and cross referencing. Conventionally, drawings were made in ink on paper or a similar material, and any copies required had to be laboriously made by hand. The twentieth century saw a shift to drawing on tracing paper, so that mechanical copies could be run off efficiently.

Residential architect - A Residential architects design buildings that will be used as residences. This includes single family homes, townhouses, condominiums and apartment buildings. Architects will meet with clients to determine their needs and begin to create design proposals for the residence. Through a series of meetings with the client they will address any concerns and revise their design until the client is satisfied. They will produce drawings to scale using computer-aided design (CAD) software or by hand, and develop the blueprints needed for contractors and those involved in the construction.

modern architecture - Modern architecture or modernist architecture is a term applied to a group of styles of architecture which emerged in the first half of the 20th century and became dominant after World War II. It was based upon new technologies of construction, particularly the use of glass, steel and reinforced concrete; and upon a rejection of the traditional neoclassical architecture and Beaux-Arts styles that were popular in the 19th century. Modern architecture continued to be the dominant architectural style for institutional and corporate buildings into 1980s, when it was challenged by postmodernism, and then by "neo-modernism" and other schools which gradually supplanted it.
