The Church of Santa Corona in Vicenza was built in the second half of the thirteenth century, commissioned by the blessed Bartolomeo da Breganze, Bishop of Vicenza from 1259 to 1270, who had received as a gift from King Louis IX in Paris one of thorns of the Christ's crown and whose goal was to carry on a deep political and cultural renewal of the city.
