A drop Water is a small volume of fluid bounded by a surface determined primarily by the action of surface tension forces rather than external forces.

Such a drop takes the form of a flattened bottom. Drops 3-4 mm in size at the bottom are flat or concave droplets of larger size are destroyed.

The shape and size of the droplet coming off the end of the capillary tube depends on the diameter of the tube the surface tension and the density of the liquid. This dependence is the basis of the methods for determining the surface tension of liquids by the mass of droplets that breaks away from the vertical cylindrical tube and by the shape of the drop hanging at the end of the tube.
