If you’re looking to give yourself a competitive edge when applying to university and taking important tests, you have to check out IGGY’s great new phone app, Gobby Academy. It’ll teach you the academic jargon you need to know when conducting research, holding high-level academic discussions, studying at university, and working professionally in academia or research.

These words were selected through rigorous international research into the vocabulary required for high achievement, and found to be the words you’ll encounter most in text books, on tests, and in the classroom. Command of them is necessary for success at the highest level, but they are often not explicitly taught at school.

Each word in the app has a definition, an example sentence, and a pronunciation guide from a native speaker, so you’ll have full authority of your new vocabulary. You can also add words to your own library of ‘favourites’ so you can revisit at a later date and suggest a new word.

Every word in Gobby Academy has been given a score of 1-5 which tells you how much it is in use. The lower the score, the more likely it is you'll come across it; the higher the score, the more unusual the word. But remember, all the words are important and the more words you understand, the more you'll be able to tell the world exactly what you think.
