Medieval Minesᴬᴿ - experience mining archaeology

European wide unique mines from the Middle Ages were found direct under the housings of the German city of Dippoldiswalde near Dresden. In the state as they were just left behind by the medieval miners 800 years ago, the complex provide an extraordinary insight and understanding of medieval mining operation.

But as a matter of security this World Heritage site could not be visited by non-professionals. So as part of the international VirtualArch project an Augmented Reality application for mobile devices was developed in which the invisible mines could be discovered virtually.

The application offers an impressive and immersive insight into the fascinating world of mining archaeology.
