Unregistered medicines can pose major health risks and safety threats to consumers who fall victim to low-quality fake products, unable to spot unauthorized drugs.

To check for authenticity, the drug QR code is scanned with the MedScan QR reader to access the data.

The user will then be redirected to view the information in its official database where they check if medicine is of the original owner.

Furthermore, they can compare the information on the database to its product packaging and label information.

How to scan the QR code on pharmaceutical packaging

To check the authenticity of a product packaging, here are the steps you should follow:

- Open your MedScan app

- Point it towards the QR code on the packaging for 2-3 seconds

- You will then be redirected to view the product details.

- If you’re led to a “Fake Drug” page, kindly report the fake drug to us by clicking on “report”.
