Rasta, or the Rastafari movement, is a new religious movement that recognizes Haile Selassie I, the former emperor of Ethiopia, as the King of Kings, Lord of Lords and the Lion of Judah as well (name Rastafari to God, which is a shortened form of Jehovah found in Psalms 68: 4 in the King James version of the Bible), and part of the Holy Trinity. The name Rastafari comes from Ras Tafari, Haile Selassie I name before he was crowned emperor. The movement emerged in Jamaica among the black working class and peasants in the early 1930s, which is derived from an interpretation of Biblical prophecy, social aspirations and political black leather, and teachings of their prophet, a publisher and organizer Jamaican blacks, Marcus Garvey, whose political and cultural vision come to help create a new world view. This movement is sometimes called "Rastafarianism"; however this was deemed inappropriate and offended many Rastas.
